Van Venrooy x Skoon: Silent renovation with clean mobile energy in Jeruzalemwijk
June 23, 2025
At Skoon, we are committed to delivering clean mobile energy systems that perfectly match the unique needs of our customers. This was demonstrated in our collaboration with construction company Van Venrooy, which was responsible for the large-scale renovation of the monumental Jeruzalemwijk in Amersfoort. The Jeruzalemwijk is a post-war monument, known for its iconic white houses. With homes dating from 1950, a large-scale renovation of 223 houses was carried out over the course of two years.
The renovation took place while residents remained in their homes, requiring an extremely careful and thoughtful approach. How do you renovate homes without disrupting the daily lives of the residents? How do you limit noise and emissions in a densely populated area? Van Venrooy enlisted Skoon to find a suitable solution.
Project Overview
Industry: Construction and renovation
Location: Amersfoort, Netherlands
Market: Construction site, clean energy
The challenge
In the Jeruzalemwijk, Van Venrooy worked on the renovation of 223 homes. This renovation included, among other things, the demolition and replacement of the entire upper floor of the monumental homes. Because residents remained at home during the work, minimizing noise and emissions became an essential requirement.
Noise reduction: during the early hours, residents needed to experience minimal disturbance from the construction work.
Sustainability: the renovation had to contribute to a clean living environment, with respect for residents, nature, and the green character of the neighborhood.
The solution
Low-noise and clean mobile energy on-site
To determine the best-fitting energy solution for this project, Skoon conducted a simulation using our own Decision Tool.
Based on the results, a hybrid energy system was selected, consisting of a battery, solar panels, and a diesel generator from our partner Volta Energy NL.
With our software tools, we simulated the project implementation in three simple steps:
Consultation and analysis
Together with Van Venrooy, we mapped out the energy needs and environmental factors.
Crucial here were silent operation and early deployability of the system.Selection of a hybrid system
The choice fell on a system with a mobile generator with built-in battery and solar panels.
This system could also be recharged by a built-in diesel engine, allowing silent power delivery on the construction site throughout the day.Monitoring and reporting
With our Live Monitoring Tool, we had real-time insight into energy consumption.
This allowed us to optimize the system and report on the achieved emission reductions and efficiency.
The result
Skoon’s hybrid energy system delivered tangible benefits.
The combination of Van Venrooy’s socially engaged approach and Skoon’s cleantech solution resulted in a best-practice model for modern renovation.
100% silent operation during crucial work hours
Reduced emissions and lower diesel consumption thanks to battery and solar panels
Full flexibility without a fixed grid connection
Positive response from residents and project partners
Smooth progress of the renovation project, without disruptions to the living environment
Conclusion
The renovation project in the Jeruzalemwijk showed that sustainable energy solutions not only contribute to a better environment, but also enhance the living comfort of nearby residents, even during intensive construction work. We were therefore incredibly proud of the result and the pleasant collaboration with Van Venrooy.
With the help of our smart tools and flexible marketplace, we enabled forward-thinking construction companies like Van Venrooy to operate sustainably, even in the most complex urban environments.
This project demonstrated what the future of construction can look like: sustainable, efficient, and with attention to the living environment.
Because with clean mobile energy, construction no longer had to be polluting, noisy, or dependent on the grid.
