Withthegrid, A Consultancy Company and Skoon have announced their partnership to deploy mobile battery systems to alleviate congestion on the electricity grid. This collaboration can accelerate the transition to sustainable energy.
Skoon is the platform for renting and leasing mobile renewable energy systems. Withthegrid is the company enabling the remote control of batteries. ACC is the company developing trading algorithms for various energy markets. Through this unique partnership, mobile batteries can be used to prevent congestion on the electricity grid in a scalable manner.
“We are thrilled with this partnership. We can now use the mobile battery systems rented through our platform in a smarter way, enabling battery owners to generate even more revenue. We hope to contribute to the affordability of a clean energy system for everyone.” – Peter Paul van Voorst, founder of Skoon
“It’s fantastic to see that our technology, the Withthegrid Teleport, can be used to integrate the many different mobile batteries into the energy system. We look forward to connecting the batteries to Skoon’s platform in a robust and secure way and working together towards a sustainable future.” – Paul Mignot, founder of Withthegrid
“Our trading algorithms are designed to optimize the real-time supply and demand of energy. Through this partnership with Skoon and Withthegrid, we can apply our trading algorithms based on the available capacity of the mobile battery systems to alleviate congestion on the electricity grid.” – Jana Endemann, founder of ACC
The solution will go live for battery systems in the province of Utrecht. Initially, the batteries will be used when they are not rented out. The available capacity of the mobile batteries will be deployed in the passive imbalance market, FCR, and GOPACS. In a subsequent stage, the battery capacity will also be utilised at the rental locations itself, such as construction sites, outside working hours when they are idle.
This partnership is an important step towards a fully sustainable energy system. The many thousands of mobile batteries will form the flexible layer of the future electricity grid.
